Hello, my name is Tom Donaldson. I believe I can bring my extensive experience from my business development consultancy, Opus, to Dalkeith Means Business. My enthusiasm for fostering local business growth remains strong. Having previously taken part as a volunteer in similar initiatives, I understand the importance of community-driven development. I joined DMB to contribute to its success and to help it become a powerful voice for Dalkeith’s business community. My aspirations for DMB include attracting vital funding and resources to support beneficial business development initiatives. Ultimately, I aim to see Dalkeith’s businesses flourish, contributing to a vibrant and prosperous local economy.

Hello, my name is Phil Bowen, and I am an entrepreneur and journalist based in Dalkeith, Scotland.
In 2014, I founded Pigeon Penguin Web and App Development Limited, a company known for delivering innovative digital solutions. I am also the editor of Midlothian View, an independent, politically neutral news website I launched in 2014. The publication has become a trusted source for local news, events, and community affairs across Midlothian. Under my leadership, Midlothian View has grown steadily and now reaches over 35,000 readers monthly, playing a vital role in local journalism and civic engagement.

Hi, I’m Chris Matson. I run my own Architectural practice in Dalkeith. In my free time, I am deeply engaged in the local community. I served on the board of Dalkeith Thistle FC for ten years, helping secure SFA membership and senior Scottish Cup status. I continue to coach youth football with a UEFA ‘C’ Licence. I also established Dalkeith Men’s Shed, promoting creativity, well-being, and connection through grassroots initiatives.
I am creative, strategic, and community-minded. I combine thoughtful design with a grounded understanding of business and people.

Hi, my name is Douglas Strachan. I am the Managing Director of CSY Architects, a majority employee-owned business based in Dalkeith town centre. CSY operates from four regional locations and actively engages with and participates in various business associations, including the Galashiels BID and Town Team.
I have contributed my time to the local community of Dalkeith and led the formation of the Community Development Trust, One Dalkeith, which I have chaired for over a decade.
I am keen to use my personal and professional experiences to help create a business association that benefits the businesses and the people who live and work in Dalkeith.
